
Dad had an adventurous streak. He wanted to see the world.
This photo was taken as he left on the train for his training course with the Canadian Navy. That happened in B.C., I believe. If someone knows differently, please correct me.
Dad was on the ship Iroquois, en route to the Korean War, on Nov. 22, 1953 when I was born. He heard about the big event in the telegraph room--where else? That's where he worked.
The trip to Korea began in Halifax, N.S. just a month or two after he and mom were married. They went south to Panama, through the canal, and then across the Pacific to Japan. The war was over before the Iroquois reached Korea.
